you often see proportion at in many places such as buisnesses for example, Without symmetry and proportion there are no principles of disighn in architecture and other disighning prodjects. Adapted relitivly is what i am trying to say! and similarity is also very important when it comes to architecture cause without simalarity than there would be no balance in what we do.
Thank You Emerson for clarifying that getting paid a salary does not mean you only get paid once per year.  It means that you paid a set amont per year, and then it is broken down into 2 week periods.  For example a salary of 24,000 per year means 2000 per month, which means 1000 every 2 weeks.

With proportion its everywhere like you could have a tall person and a short person a fat person and a skinny winny person... Sad, happy... get the point!!! so yeah its like so easy to find... With similarity i think of it as twins twins are similar.. Also like some animals look the same an elephant is going to be pretty similar to another elephant.. dogs not so much because there are so many different breeds and stuff.. With zebras as many have said.. most zebras look the same.. so yea there is a lot of proportion and similarity i the world and u can find it if you look for it... It wont take that long... :)

With proportion it is every where not only at home but at school too. with home when there are eight pieces of chicken breast and there are four people in the family then each person get two pieces of chicken. At school people like to share food so they spread out how may each gets for example if I had a package of fruit gushers ( 8) and 5 people asked for 1 I would give them one and have 3 left for myself. proportion is another word I think for sharing it is to evenly give or take proportions. With Similarity in life there are twins as billy an d Emerson said not only that but appearance, two people could look exactly the same and never know that there was someone that was like there twin. There are other examples not only human beings such as food, if you look in one bag of popcorn you could find the exactly same piece of popcorn, another one is in a bag there is an exact pair with two chips in the bag. It goes on and on the possibilites for proportion and similarities in the world.

We see lots of proportions and similarity. There are similarity people like twins like Emerson said, and the same type of animal like zebra looks all the same. You wouldn’t know without making the mark in their ear or something. Also you really need to careful because you can’t see the difference between the water and alcohol only with your eyes. For the proportion, it is important because when you bet for something with somebody or make some deal, you need to clarify the money that you’re getting. They usually use the ratio like 4:6 or something.

Miranda

Where do you see Proportion and simalarity in the real world? ummmm.... i would say that you see it in, you could see it in clothing. Like if two people have the same shirt on, or same pants or somthing. I think it is important because without it we would have too much of different things and we would not see similarity in stuff. Soo ya.
Okay, before I say anything. I'm gonna say that most people get part of their salary every 15 days. Not once a year.

Anyways, Where do I see proportion and similarity on this wonderful planet that we call Earth? I see similarity in twins. We have twins that work at our school. Twins are similar! And we see proportion like everywhere! I mean, you can buy a half liter of milk or a whole liter of milk. One half liter times two means you get a whole liter of milk! Uh, it's important because you do not want to buy to much milk!

Why is it important?

I think having an hourly wage is good for something and a salary is good for other things. An hourly wage is good for if you work extra hours, so that you can get more money. And a salary is good for having always the normal amount of money you urn. They both are good, but it dispense on what your job is.

Tianna...

I definatly think getting paid $ per hour would work best for me because if yuo get paid by salary you only get it once a year. I would only say that if it was a small job or buisness. If you wor kat a top production or something like that then maybe it would be better to be paid yearly. But it differs for different people.. Some might say its better to be paid through salary some may say by hours..... For realtors you get paid every house they sell.. If you dont sell a house you dont get paid..

Alexandra

I think money per hour would be the best for me. With salary you only really get in once a year. If you have any extra cost you cant work extra for different things. And you know how much you have depending on how many hours you work. but that's just for me. If you are a business man or woman salary would probably work better. Some jobs your hours are not always consistent. It is good then to have a steady paycheck. You would have to be careful how you spend.Or what you spend it on. So depending on who you are and where you work it really makes the decision easier.

Lanna

Well, I'd have to say a salary or money per hour. Dollars per hour would be good if I don't know how long I'll be working there or how long I'll be staying in an area. Salary would be good, too, but you only get that money once a year. You'd have to be careful and be wise with your money. I don't really know. I wouldn't choose a salary if it were a bad job that I didn't like. Commission wouldn't be the best because what if you didn't sell anything?? Then you'd have to work alought harder to try and make money. I'd have to say salary or dollars per hour.

Billy

I think it depends on the job that I’m working on. If I’m like working in the McDonalds or something, I would defiantly choose the hourly wage. If I am very serious about this job and I love doing it, I would like to get the salary because I don’t have to worry about the money, which comes annually. I don’t like the commission because you don’t get money if you don’t sell anything. So, the money that comes in would be up and down all the time. Then, I would have to worry about the money and keep focusing the job in my life too much. That is why I would like to be paid by salary.

Emerson.

Well, I think a Salary is the best one. Because then you know how much money you'll make each month and can budget and stuff. Instead of have money in the bank that fluctuates. Like, one month you have (not realistic) 60,000$ so you spend it all and then the next month you don't sell anything. So what do you do? You starve =) Not really... But it's better to know what you're making, when you make it. So you can manage your money well. Plus, it would be harder to take out a loan or get a mortgage if you say "Well, sometimes I get some money and other months I don't..." the bank is more confident in you when you come and say "I make 60,000 dollars a year"

Monday, October 19, 2009

i think that it is better to get paid by salary because no matter what even if you sell 1000 dollars worth of stuff and only recieve 7% in a week than you only get $70 but with salary no watter what you sell in a week you sill get $300.

Do you think it is better to get paid by comission or by salary ($ per year) or by an hourly wage?  Why do you think so?

I think the average math mark would be 76%, because it is not the best mark or the worst mark. It is just between 100 and 50%, like tyson said. And its not tough getting 76%.

CHELS.

I guess I would say the average math mark would be approximately.. somewhere in the neighborhood of.. oh, maybe.. 77.5% I think 77.5% would be near the average percent because some students have a harder time than others. Not everybody is failing, but not everybody is knocking it out of the park. 77.5% would be raising the bar a little above the in between mark on account of the occasional keener. Yeah, that's about it. Yup.

Christina

I think that 80% is average and that it is a good number to get but it would be better to get higher like 90% because then you would get B or A.

Tyson

I have to agree with Tianna that a 75% is an average mark. I think this is average because you are half way in between getting 100% and a fail witch is below 50%. You are also getting three quarters of your work correct witch is pretty good in my oponion. It would be best if you got over it though because you only need a few more to get a B in that subject. That is why I think 75% is an average mark.

Tianna.... 86 words :)

I would have to say that 75% is an average mark.. Because you arn't failing but your not getting A's. A passing mark is 50% and a failing mark is below 50%. An (A) is 86% or higher, so i think 75% is average becasue it's somewhere inbetween a failing and a Pass. I guess 80% is around average to but it really depends on what we are doing.. If its like a test then i would say 75% is a good but not fabulous mark.

Wednesday, October 14, 2009

Lanna. . . ....and I have 81 words!

Hmm... I think I'd have to say 75%. For some things in math we REALLY get and do really well on, or can do really well on, and some things we don't get and do terrible. Some people are good at some things and others at other things. We all won't be good at the same things. 75% isn't a bad mark either. I think that 80% could be an average too. 75% or 80%. It kind of depends.

Tuesday, October 13, 2009

Billy (71 words)

I think 80% is about to be the average because Canada has fairly nice education system. There are free textbooks at school, and lots of benefits for going to school and actually finishing it. It is really hard to fail the grade from grade 1 to 6, but after that, it goes harder than before. I heard that Vancouver's students are very hard studying for the university. That is my answer.

Alexandra

I think 75%ish is averge. It really depends on the test. Sometimes it will be a great test and the averge mark is 80%. Sometimes most people fail, so the averge mark is 60-65%. But I think 75% is a good averge. There will always be the people that seem to score at least 90%. They will keep the mark up. But sometimes people get an okay mark that can bring the grade averge down. So 75% is a good guess. since it is a middle number between 50 and 100.

Emerson.

What percent do I think is average? Hmm, I would say... 75% because the average person doesn't fail most assignments or ace most either. The average person would get half and half ish. Leaning to failing but also leaning to acing it... Do you know what I mean. Like, 75%... is "around" half way through 50 (failing) and 100 (acing it) So it's kind of half way. Most people are half way there (That sounds like an insult but it isn't, I'm just saying most people aren't fabulous at everything but they don't suck at it either) So for me; average would be 75%.

MIRANDA................. 74 words!

I think that around 80% is an average student mark. I think this because most student that I know get around this mark. I think that this is a great mark! If I get over this mark I am pretty happy! 80% is a B. And getting a B is not bad! I would say that a range between 70%-100% is pretty normal! I am proud to say that, that is an average! YAY!

You can use fractions in baking. If you want a job as a pastry chef you need to use measurements which use fractions so that's another way. Fractions are used in construction like when you are mixing chemical mixes such as cement. In music for bars there are 3- 4ths time 4-4ths time they are fractions. Fractions are used in a large amounts of things and I'm glad it exist.

Fractions

We use fractions in many different thing, I will name three, cooking, measurements, and division. You need to know fractions in cooking or alts you would not know how much of an ingredient you need to make something. In some kinds of measuring you need to fractions, so if your a carpenter you need to know fractions. And finally you need to know fractions in division which you learn in school.
Fractions exist all over the world almost everywhere that i know of. We use them in our everyday life at school, at home, and work. You may not notice it but we use them alot more than we notice. Fractions could come in many forms EX: hey mom how much milk is left mom replys about one fourth ok thanks.

Fractions are used alot! I didnt really think about it but now that i have, i relize that we use the alot. They are used for baking when you are measuring out how much to use you can have like, 1/2 a cup and such. We use them on tests, papers and school work. Like, 30/30 or 15/30. We use them when we pay like if you get a sale you might only have to pay 1/2 of the price!

Lanna

You'd have to be stupid not to know where fractions are. They are used all the time, for cooking and telling time sometimes. We use them at my parents auction when we give items inventory numbers and there is more than one item in a lot. There are a lot of uses for fractions. A whole bunch of businesses use them all the time. We use fractions for school when we get our marks of assignments or tests. Really, there are a lot of things that we use that involve fractions.

Well.. lets see. Fractions are used in life when you're baking, measuring out all of the certain ingredients. And when telling the time to someone you would say "Quater to." or "Quater after." Depending on your job, you could end up using fractions all the time. Really, any job that involves math. In stores everywhere you look you see signs with fractions of prices off items, and on a bunch of food, they would say something like "Half the fat of other leading brands." So.. those are some ways we use fractions in everyday life.

Chels.

Where are fractions used in life? Fractions are everywhere!! We use them in so many parts of life. Telling time for example. People say, 'quarter to two'. Or when you are baking, driving, filling up the gas tank.. counting money, the odds of winning the lottery, playing music.. I could easily say that we all use fractions daily without even realizing it most of the time.

Fractions are everywhere. If you every want to cook something you have fractions. You have to know how much. Stores everywhere have fractions. In almost every store you will go in there will fractions. A 45% of sign. We also use fractions when taking about things. Like I an three quarters of the way through this book I am reading. Or something like we are half way there. Also when you get your test scores.

Josiah

Fractions are in many parts of life. You use fractions to measure all kinds of different ingredients when you are going to cook things, measure wood and beams when building a skyscraper or even just a little shelf and such (3/4 inch by 8 inch, blah, blah, blah), and store owners use them in their sale advertisements. For example: Backpacks--Buy one Get one 1/2 price!! that is where you can use/find fractions in everyday life.

Emerson.

Just gonna put this out there Mr. McKauge... I hate blogging for school with a passion of a thousand burning suns. It's really dumb! Where do fractions exist in this world. Well, earlier I made Toll House cookies and I had to use fractions for that. 3/4 Cups of Brown Sugar and White Sugar. 2 1/4 Cups of Flour. 1/1 Cup of Chocolate Chips. Haha. 1/1. Also, when store have sales you can turn percents into fractions to help you see how much you are actually spending. Example: A store has a big red sign that says 75% off. You know that means that you only have to pay 1/4 of the price. Fractions are everywhere.

Tianna

You can use fractions for many many things.. Like Billy said with pizza.. and like tyson said with buying things.. But i guess you could use fractions for cooking and baking.. like if it says to use 3/4 a cup of sugar.. I personally love using fractions and measurements while cooking, i dont know how people just put random thigns and make something.. i like to have things perfect.. And of course we use fractions for math.. Thats where i use fractions the most in my life.. i guess thats because i have to do fractions because it's math :P...
